The Simon de Danser Case: High Seas Boardings with Flag State Permission (6 Jul 21)

Tuesdays Second Chance offers to learning lessons from past incidents at sea. In this second edition, held on 6 July, a case study involving the high seas boarding of a drug smuggling vessel in the Eastern Atlantic was presented to participants and discussed.

Discussions between the participants focused on the complexities involved in conducting boardings with flag state permission and the need to ensure a robust legal start to law enforcement cases. Western Indian Ocean audiences
